Opportunity Desk is a great resource and has been in existence for 9 years. Through the platform, Students/Youth can look for different Student Exchange Programs, International Conferences, Undergraduate Scholarships, Masters Scholarships, Ph.D. Scholarships, Fellowships & Training workshops, as well as Cultural Exchange Programs, Internships, Summer Internships, Jobs and Guidelines & Expertise tips about Scholarships.
Through this Opportunity Desk (OD), Grace and her team challenge young people to an Impact Challenge yearly and has encouraged more social workers to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Established in 2012, Opportunity Desk has reached young people in over 200 countries and has about 1,000,000 site visits monthly as well as 200,000 persons engaging with them via social media.
Through its mentorships, Opportunity Desk amplifies the voices of young changemakers, offers mentoring and even as much as financial support for changemakers. It also encourages changemakers through its monthly Young changemakers recognition.
Opportunity Desk hopes to bring international experience to everyone alive irrespective of their background, race, sex, disabilities or religion.
A lecturer in the Department of Social Work, University of Calabar, Grace is also a Mandela Washington Fellow. She was awarded a certificate in Social Entrepreneurship from the University of Connecticut, USA in 2010; a Certificate in Civic Leadership and Engagement from Kansas State University, USA in 2016; and a Certificate in Leading Change from Institute of Continuing Education, University of Cambridge in 2017 in addition to many other certificates from reputable institutions. She was named one of Google’s 12 Brightest Young Minds in 2011 and a Global Changemaker in 2012. She also was named one of 50 Youth Leaders to watch during the CrossRiver@50 celebration.
In an interview with Punch Newspapers in 2017, the then 26- year old Grace stated,
“I am grateful for the awards and recognition. They make me feel humbled, inspired and challenged to do more.”
