Marketing takes different shapes and sizes, depending on your audiences and on even the medium used for marketing. For example, social media marketing is very unique because of the platforms involved. It is an exciting space and exciting content commands traffic. In all of these twists and turns, humour always works. It takes the centre stage wherever.

As a matter of fact, even in formal spaces, hard humour works in formal presentations. Humour is appealing to human beings and always does the magic.

Humour shows the audience that your organisation has a human side. There’s nothing as human as making comments which resonate with your audience’s moments of laughter.

As a non-for-profit, marketing has met you with opportunities to appeal to the emotions of your audiences. Different emotions are appealed to — pity, sadness, hope, and the likes. Many times we forget that happiness is also an emotion. Making your audience happy by making them laugh can be as effective as what pity does to them.

One way to do this is to pay attention to trends. Trends are ideas which people have generally interacted with. Apart from the fact that keying into a trend which is widespread could make your work widespread too, trends helps people see you as one of them too. It is like walking into the community and becoming part of them. Humourous trends also create an even more intense opportunity to market your work right into the hearts of people.

Admittedly, it might not be easy to do this. It might seem risky or like ‘just too much humour’. But we advise you to take the ‘risk’ once in a while and see it work magic for you.
