Creating Your Story

Every social organisation has a story behind. We say this for sure because social work is humanity and humanity carries emotions which is the bedrock of stories.

How do you know you have a story?

It’s quite simple. You should ask yourself these questions:

1. What inspired me to begin this social organisation?

2. What is my driving force?

3. Where do I see this organisation in a few years?

When you’re able to answer these questions, you would be able to gain a foot stand in realising what your story is.

Now what’s the next step?

Put a voice to your dreams and the history of your social organisation. Create a persona; a real persona which may be you or some other person. Blend this persona with your story.

Fast fact

You should be well aware of principles of storytelling. This knowledge can be gotten from books, short courses or seminars on storytelling.

Creating your story makes people relate with you and your experiences. It drives your community engagement and improves your impact especially on people.
